A cross-country artistic collaboration of cataclysmic proportions… projects.
At this very second, thousands of people are checking out projects on Kickstarter. They’re rallying around their friends’ ideas, backing projects from people they’ve long admired, and discovering things that make them laugh and smile.
Every project is independently crafted, put to all-or-nothing funding,
and supported by friends, fans, and the public in return for rewards.
All-or-nothing funding.
Every project creator sets their project’s funding goal and deadline. If the project succeeds in reaching its funding goal all backers’ credit cards are charged when time expires. If the project falls short no one is charged.
Since our launch in April 2009, more than 30,000 creative projects
have been successfully funded by awesome people from around the world.
But Kickstarter is about much more than money…

Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects.

Independently crafted.
The filmmakers, musicians, artists, and designers you see on Kickstarter havecomplete control and responsibility over their own projects. They spend weeks building their own project pages, shooting their own videos, and brainstorming
what to offer as rewards.
Rewards are things like a copy of what’s being made, a limited edition, or acustom experience related to the project. This isn’t Best Buy — rewards aren’t shrink-wrapped and ready to ship. Once the project is funded, the journey to bring them to life begins.

The big picture.
Since launching in April 2009:
- $366 millionpledged to projects
- 2.7 million peoplehave backed a project
- 30,000 projectssuccessfully funded
People come to Kickstarter to build community around their projects. It’s inspiring to be supported by people you know, and amazing to connect with strangers who are discovering your ideas for the first time.
The feedback, press, and love that can come with
a Kickstarter project are just as valuable as the money raised. Ask anyone who’s done it before. There’s nothing like it.

Every Mother Counts, founded by Christy Turlington Burns, is a Million Moms Challenge partner working to mobilize a passionate community dedicated to saving mothers’ lives. They create new and diverse ways to educate more people about maternal health and give you creative ways to get involved.
There are so many things you can do: make a donation in honor of a birthday or a shower, run a 5k or a marathon to raise money for moms around the world, or buy the specially commissioned CD at Starbucks, a gorgeous scarf or even a nursery that will benefit maternal health programs!
Each month Every Mother Counts brings a new action to its followers. June’s theme was “every partner counts” in which the Million Moms Challenge was honored to be included! The July and August theme is “The Summer of Sisterhood” with a list of easy ways you can support maternal health including:
Resources raised through Every Mother Counts’ activities will be directed to programs around the world that are helping women access the care they need. Updates will be posted on their “Our Progress” page, reporting on efforts to: provide safe, clean places for women to deliver their babies; ensure trained professionals are available to help women give birth; help women travel to access the care they need; and provide health education and voluntary family planning resources.
Like all of us in the Million Moms Challenge community, Every Mother Counts believes that everyone has the capacity to make a difference. Learn more by visiting their site everymothercounts.org, joining their mailing list or liking their Facebook page.
